One of the many ways I get to play such prestigious courses is to participate in charity events. Last year, my son Clark and I had the wonderful privilege of playing Hazeltine National while supporting autism research through the Ernie Els Foundation. This organization does a masterful job of hosting charity events all across the United States and Canada. Two years ago, my brother and I played the Atlanta Athletic Club with the Els Foundation and I highly recommend these events.
Hazeltine National proved to be a stout test of golf! One of the downsides of playing in these tournaments is that they use a shot gun start. Fortunately, we started on hole #1 so we enjoyed the exact same routing as the Pros did later that year during the intense Ryder Cup event. Having played it in May made viewing the Cup all the more exciting!
